I’ve seen billboards displaying the current ER wait times in local hospitals.

Now a hospital has begun advertising on billboards the following message:

AVOID THE ER WAIT.

Hold your place in line at some link powered by InQuicker.

I got a flyer today that instructs me to

1. Go to the link.

2. Fill out the online visit form.

3. Wait from the comfort of home.

4. Arrive at my projected treatment time.

Really?

Instead of wasting that advertising money and whatever it costs to use this InQuicker service, let’s hire someone to sit at the triage desk and make office appointments for the fools who come in with non-emergent complaints.

That would help decrease the wait times and the costs associated with treating these issues in an ER setting.

Problem solved without enabling abuse of the healthcare system.
