Apologize for my singleness.
To someone so wholly unrelated to my life and happiness.
To someone who didn’t even ask.
My youngest brother recently got engaged. It was a sweet proposal that included all their family and friends.
Their pastors were included, and the pastor’s wife was talking to my mother when she commented that it must be so exciting.
My mother replies, “Yes. We skipped the first and the third*, but it’s okay. The girls are waiting for the right man.”
* Sibling order: Me, Brother, Sister, Brother.
Thank you for marginalizing my life and my choices.
I’m not living a full life. I’m waiting for someone.
Don’t do it again, Mom.

So the boys didn’t “wait for the right woman”? :)

I was 31 when I married. I was waiting for the right man :-) While waiting I traveled the world and did all of the things that I wouldn’t be able to do after marrying and settling down. We have twin girls who are 7, and I am in nursing school. Waiting was fun!

Thanks, Melody. When you put it that way, waiting is fun!
