I completed my first custom order and mailed it yesterday. The silk and bamboo blend yarn was amazingly soft. I found myself petting my knitting whenever I walked by it. It turned out pretty cute, too – if I don’t say so myself. The buyer sent me the yarn and natural shell buttons. She also gave me specific sizing and design specifications she wanted used. This was the result:
I did finish the Ribbed Lace Bolero I thought I would give as a birthday gift, but I didn’t really like it too much. So it has been frogged (no photo), and I started a cabled bag from a Drops Design I downloaded. The yarn is chocolate brown, and I have some leaf buttons that I might use. There is great potential for adorable. We’ll see.
I’ve done my ICU time, and I was right. Interesting but not where I want to be. My first patient was a guy who’d overdosed on cocaine. His family brought him in when he started seizing. By the time I saw him, he had been mechanically intubated twice. He was extubated once before, developed pneumonia and then ARDS. My second patient was a young lady whose insulin pump ran out of insulin. She is a type one diabetic, so this put her into diabetic ketoacidosis. She was really sweet, and I had fun talking to her.
The rest of school is going ok. I’ve done great on my exams so far. The biggest frustration is the busy work we’re given by our Professional Practice class. So much of it is just a repeat of work we’ve done before. I’m sorely tempted to makeup up my next assignment – an interview with a nurse. It’s the same interview format we did last semester, only now I’m expected to do it along with the exams, simulation labs, clinicals, (real) papers, video assignments, volunteer hours, 3000 practice HESI questions….. all in a shortened semester as well. I don’t think so. Something is going to drop, and I think it will be the most useless assignment.
I’m almost done with the first season of Dexter, so don’t tell me what happens! I love this show. I appreciate interesting characters and stories. I don’t have Showtime, so I guess I’ll have to wait until season 2 is available to rent/buy.
Ummm…that’s it for now.
